The discount supermarket chain first arrived in the UK in December 1990 – four years before Lidl landed in Britain.
Netto soon became a beloved staple, with many people hailing it as their go-to store for bargains.

But disaster struck in 2016 after the company’s trading days came to a halt.
Despite the chain still thriving in many German towns, its ties to the UK have been severed.

A Facebook user has resurrected Netto’s presence, selling the chain’s classic carrier bag online.
