A rather unusual ad for a sublet of a living room in London has left people online baffled – after it was ‘written by a pair of cats’.

Penned from the perspective of two Siamese cats living with their owners in Kensal Rise, London, the space on offer is a single bed inside a living room – with the rest of the flat being shared.

The ad reads: “We are a couple of Siamese cats that live in a large 1 bedroom ground floor flat with a private garden on a quiet street in a great Location with great access.

“We live with a lovely couple of humans who take care of us, they think the place is theirs, but it’s ours.”

Bizarrely, it adds that “the female” owner is “not around much”, while the male is “usually in the kitchen and dining room” – only entering the living area to water the plants.

As such, the pair decided to rent out the space “on a room-only basis” – for £1,000 a month, including bills.

But it won’t be completely private, with the resident felines sharing the space with the new tenant, reports What’s The Jam.

Sharing the post on X, one person wrote: “If you didn’t already know that the London rental scene is the wild west, here is a post written in the voice of two cats, offering someone the chance to sleep in a living room. For £1000 a month.”

The post garnered over a million views.

One shocked viewer commented: “Unbelievable.”

“Filled with other people’s belongings too – lovely!” said another user.

Someone else joked: “£1000 a month to share a room with strangers that pretend their cats have Facebook. Your kitten me right? Are they fur real.”

“Spelling/grammar not 100% but really quite impressive for two cats. Not sure they have a firm grasp of the value of money. Might be the lack of opposable thumbs,” quipped another user.

Another person commented: “It’s a 1 bed with TWO adults (and 2 animals) already living there?! I wouldn’t want to stay there for one night for free.”

The ‘cats’ ask for a professional or student “animal lover” who would be happy sharing the area with them.

The ad continues: “It’s a very large room with high ceilings, which we cats love to lounge around.

“There is a comfortable single bed and the couch can also open into a double.

“You even have a desk in the corner if you do some work from home.

“Like we said, the male never uses it so it is your private space which we only hope you’ll be cool to share with us cats as we love to lounge around in there sometimes.

“There is a bathroom, dining room, kitchen and garden that we all share.”

The two current tenants are described as between 44-54.Advertised on SpareRoom, the space is available until the end of August, and also for weekly rentals.
