The world’s first e-scooter which allows users to play online games while outdoors has been launched – but is it safe?

The Ekruzer #1 is a gaming console on wheels that combines electric mobility with augmented reality gaming.

Australian firm Ekruzer claims it will allow riders to “explore their environment in new and exciting ways in both single and multiplayer scenarios”.

Priced at £10,000 ($13,000 USD), it is described as the world’s first-ever state-of-the-art augmented reality gaming platform to be integrated with an e-scooter.

It has a seven-inch HD display mounted on the handlebars with gaming controls either side of it.

The scooter also features front and rear cameras, a microphone and integrated speakers, as reported by What’s The Jam.

But under current UK laws it will only be useable on private land.

There have been a number of deaths involving e-scooters in Britain.

It is not currently possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters.

This means it is illegal to use them on the road or in public spaces such as parks, street pavements and shopping centres.

But you can rent e-scooters in some parts of the UK through e-scooter rental trials.

Where a rental trial scheme is running, rental e-scooters can be used on public roads, some cycle lanes and other public spaces.

Online gaming has also been associated with increased levels of isolation and feelings of anxiety in some studies.

Squad Leader, the CEO of Ekruzer, said: “We’re thrilled to introduce a product that pushes the boundaries of what an e-scooter can be.

“The Ekruzer #1 isn’t just a lightweight EV it’s a revolution in gaming and mobility and now a platform for creativity.

“This marks a bold step into a new era of mobility and interactive entertainment.

“When Sony released the original Playstation they redefined the gaming industry by bringing gaming into the living room and Ekruzer will write the next chapter by taking gaming out of the house and into the parks.”
