Hotels in Paris have hiked up their prices over the Olympic games – with a double room costing £6,850 per night.

The games are taking place in Stade de France in the capital between 26 July and 11 August.

The stadium – which is the largest in France – has 80,698 seats.

An estimated 13.5 million people from across the globe – including tens of thousands of Brits – are set to travel in and watch the 35th Summer Olympic games.

But some hotels in the Saint-Denis area of the city are already cashing in on visitors and have hiked their prices up over the duration of the games.

Novotel Paris, located in that area, has increased its prices by over £6,700.

Prices for a night at the hotel vary, but the price for an overnight stay two weeks before the Olympics start – 12 to 13 July – costs just £116.50.

However, during the games, Novotel costs a shocking £6,835.18.

This price covers a ‘superior’ room which only has two beds.

The B&B Hotel in Saint-Denis is charging a massive £413 per night, during the Olympics.

The three-star budget hotel typically charges just £77.48 for a double room.

But it has hiked his price up by over £335 per night for the games.

This price only covers a double bed in one of their suites.

Even the IBIS hotel in Paris Saint-Denis has raised its prices.

The economy hotel chains usually charge £90.88 per night for a standard room.

These prices have shot up to a staggering £456 per night over the games.

Earlier this week, it was reported that pest control has been drafted in to help with the bed bug epidemic in Paris.

It was feared that the blood-sucking insects may make their way into hotels and furniture during the games.
