An iconic Ferrari F40 owned and signed by Formula 1 legend Alain Prost hits the market for £2.75m.
This dazzling 1990 Ferrari F40 was delivered brand new to the former racing driver during his first season with them.
Nicknamed ‘The Professor’, the 70-year-old icon won four F1 titles and had an intense rivalry on the track with the late Ayrton Senna.

After leaving McLaren Prost signed with Ferrari where he was given the F40 straight from the factory.
When handing the keys over to its next driver, Prost signed the roof which was then covered in a thick clear coat and remains visible today.
Now the dazzling ride is looking for a new owner, with RM Sotheby’s hosting the sale.

Kitted out with an impressive 2.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine the F40 has a top speed of 201mph.
When the French racer received the car it was the fastest motor on the planet.

The 35-year-old car is still in fantastic condition with just 2,961 miles on the clock at the time of sale.

The ride recently had a service conducted by Emil Frey Sportivo, the official Ferrari dealer for Munich.

The car, which is currently located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has an estimated value of £2.75million.
A spokesperson for RM Sotheby’s stated: “By the end of the 1989 Formula 1 season, Alain Prost had cemented his place as one of the most successful drivers in history.

“Despite clinching the Drivers’ title over team-mate and arch-rival Ayrton Senna, Prost left McLaren to join Ferrari for 1990.
“Replacing Gerhard Berger, he was the first driver signed for the Scuderia following the death of Enzo Ferrari.
“As the incoming lead driver, it was only fitting that Prost was given a Ferrari for use away from the circuit.

“And what better car for a reigning World Champion than a brand-new F40 the fastest road-going automobile the world had ever seen.
“In addition to the accompanying history file, owner’s manual, and replacement service book, the car is also accompanied by a set of tools, its original front spoiler, and one fitted Schedoni suitcase.
“It is further complemented by its relevant copy of Motor Sport magazine and 2nd-place concours trophy.”
