A mountain of fly-tipped rubbish, including mattresses, dirty nappies and even a caravan, has sparked fury after being left to spill out onto a quiet, residential street.
Mattresses, furniture, doors, children’s toys and other rubbish have been dumped along the road in Gloucester.
And shocking piles of waste have built up outside the abandoned Colwell Grammar School, with councillors demanding action to clear the mess and find those responsible.

Gloucester City Councillor Roseanna Marshall said residents had also raised concerns about fires and anti-social behaviour at the site, as reported by What’s The Jam
She said: “The caravan and other rubbish is just sitting there left to rot.
“I had feedback the other day about how bad it was getting.
“It would just make it a lot nicer if there was something done with the building.”
Cllr Usman Bhaimia was just as shocked.

He said: “The state of this site is appalling and completely unacceptable.
“Residents deserve better than a derelict building surrounded by rubbish.
“The sheer amount of waste that has accumulated is shocking, and some of it is now spilling out towards the pavement.

“It needs to be dealt with before the situation gets any worse.
“We are asking the relevant authorities and the owner to work together to get the waste removed, prevent further fly-tipping and investigate who is responsible.”
He added that clearing the rubbish would only solve the immediate problem, with the future of the building also needing to be addressed.
“We want to see progress on the planning application.
“Four years after it was submitted, there is still no decision.
“We need clarity about what remains outstanding, what needs to happen next and how the application can finally be brought to a determination.
“Leaving a prominent site like this in limbo for years benefits nobody.
“Residents What’s The Jam there is a clear plan for its future.”
The former grammar school closed in 1988 before later becoming part of Gloucester College, which vacated the building in 2007.
The site has remained empty for years and parts of the building have fallen into disrepair.
A planning application to convert it into flats was submitted in 2022, with amended plans lodged in 2023 and consultations continuing into this year. No decision has yet been made.
Cllr Marshall said the building’s current owner lived abroad and was “really hard to get in contact with”.
