A murmuration of tens of thousands of birds has been caught on camera in one of nature’s most spectacular displays.
The starlings were filmed swooping into roost at a secluded beauty spot.
Thousands of the migrating birds arrived at their destination at Roughtor Woods in Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, on 3 November.

The dramatic display, which took place at dusk, lasted about 30 minutes.
The giant flock created mesmerising shapes before dropping out of sight.
“There were tens of thousands of them,” Peter Glaser, who witnessed the display, told What’s The Jam.
“They arrived in the early evening and the flock just grew and grew in size and number.
“The starlings create amazing, ever-changing patterns and shapes.

“I was lucky to witness a build-up of the large murmuration that just stayed around before eventually dropping into the woods below.
“A mesmerising swirl that almost gives the impression it’s in slow motion.”
Scientists believe that murmurations offer safety in numbers, particularly protection from predators like peregrine falcons that are attracted by the sheer number of birds.

Experts still aren’t completely sure how the starlings manage to move in such unison.
