F1 champion Lando Norris has made a pit stop at his old primary school for a surprise visit.

Teachers and pupils were awe-struck when the 26-year-old arrived to inspire the next generation.

The world champion was greeted by a barrage of checkered flags when he walked into his old playground.

The McLaren driver spent the day at Chew Stoke Church School, Avon, Bristol, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The 26-year-old, who began his journey to F1 by kart racing at age eight, was greeted with gifts on arrival – including a school-branded mug and tea towel.

Headteacher Ben Hewett welcomed the former pupil, before he stopped to take photos with all of the staff and children.

Former pupils Amelie and Olivia also gifted Lando with a special membership to the Chew Stoke alumni.

During his visit on Monday (2 Feb), Lando hosted a whole school assembly where he discussed motivation, determination and achieving your goals.

The reigning F1 world champion spent the day going classroom to classroom, answering questions, signing items and even helping out with a hedgehog scooter race.

The star then left a present for each pupil to take home with them.

A spokesperson for Chew Stoke Church School said: “What an incredible day we have had at Chew Stoke Church School.

“Today, the children, staff, past pupils, parents and colleagues were treated to a very special visit from Lando Norris, the current F1 World Champion.

“We are so grateful that Lando made a special visit to Chew Stoke today.

“It is an experience the children and whole school community will not forget.

“We are certain it has inspired our pupils to aim high, dream big and remember that anything is possible.

“Lando also very generously left every pupil a gift.”
