Earlier this month, social media users were left fuming after discovering that a London hotel restaurant was serving up tea for £7 a pop.
But there’s a new contender – with another venue selling their Earl Grey cuppa for £9.
Surprisingly, however, many visitors have left glowing reviews.
The tea is on the menu at the fine dining establishment Pavyllon London – a Michelin Star restaurant, located within the prestigious Four Seasons hotel, as reported by What’s The Jam.

To put the tea cost into perspective, you can get a packet of 80 Earl Grey teabags for a fiver in Tesco, equating to 6.25p a bag – meaning you’ll have to splash out almost 144 times more for a cuppa at the hotel restaurant.
Although you’ll pay through the nose for the drink, diners have praised the venue’s service and atmosphere online.
One diner wrote: “This restaurant deserves a Michelin star. I found the food to be very good great service, indeed Worth a visit. Situated in an elegant hotel, parking was easy with the Porter.”
A second added: “My partner and i went because the restaurant [recently] gained a michelin star. Wonderful food in an elegant dining room. The service was siblime.”

Federica praised: “Came here to have a lunch with some friends, everything was so good starting from the service to the food! The location was stunning!!”
However, other disgruntled visitors have taken umbrage with the restaurant’s prices.
Gavin added: “Food was well presented but way too expensive for what it was. Service needs much improvement if you’re going to charge these kinds of prices. Nice decor and being able to see the kitchen right in the centre was a nice touch.”

Jonny wrote: “Rude staff who have no clue what they are doing and vastly over priced for the london market. The food was tasty I can’t deny but the service is shocking [and] unorganised.”
News of this cup of tea comes after reports that the Colony Grill Room in The Beaumont Hotel, Mayfair, is selling a cup of Earl Grey for £7.
Reviewing this tea specifically, one visitor was “disappointed” by the selection on offer, but still gave the restaurant five stars overall.
They wrote: “Popped here for a late night tea. The service was impeccable, the staff always do their utmost to make you feel welcome and accommodate your every whim.
“Little disappointed by the limited selection of teas on the menu however everything else surprised my expectations. I have been here for a round of drinks on a previous occasion and it had been a delight in every sense.”
Jam Press has reached out to Pavyllon London and The Colony Grill Room for comment.
