A man has gifted his father-in-law a shiny coffin for his birthday.
Diego Aparecido Stabile bought the casket in a bid to complete his wife’s dad’s birthday wishes.
He bought it for £280, (R$1,800), and gifted it to 41-year-old Claudinei Paz do Santos.
Claudinei told local news: “My coffin is stored, beautiful and well taken care of.

“I’m happy with my coffin at home.
“I even use peroba oil on it.”
Oleo de peroba is a famous brand of oil for furniture, especially wooden, to make it shinier.
Diego, of Grandes Rios, west of São Paulo, Brazil, also said: “It was a dream of his to have one.

“He kept asking and asking.
“So then I decided to buy it and give it to him as a gift.”
The coffin was ordered from a funeral home in Grandes Rios and delivered straight to Claudinei’s house on his birthday.

They placed the coffin smack bang in the middle of the living room, for it to be on permanent display and for visitors to see it.
Claudinei added: “It’s in a room, alone.
“I greet it every day and take good care of it.
“Same thing as being a piece of furniture for me.
“I’m happy, I like my gift and I have always wanted one.”
But some family members found Claudinei’s desire strange.
Diego, however, said he wanted to see his father-in-law’s dream come true.
He said: “At first we were scared.
“We thought it was crazy, but it’s an old wish of his and he’s always asked for it, so I decided to give it to him.”
