A glowing fireball left onlookers mesmerised when it streaked across the sky.
The meteor was filmed burning through the atmosphere before breaking up over Chelmsford, Essex.
The stunning footage was filmed by Nick James of the UK Fireball Alliance.

The network of photographers capture images of meteors and fireballs across the country, as reported by What’s The Jam.
A spokesman for the UK Fireball Alliance said: “The meteor may have dropped a meteorite.
“It probably did land in England but it’s too small to hunt for.”
Wayne Samson was stunned by the spectacle.
He said: “Yep, I saw this over Stansted airport.

“Breathtaking.”
And Hugo James added: “Yes I saw this while driving.
“It was intense.

“It fragmented into two or three parts.”
A meteor or shooting star is the visible passage of a meteoroid, comet, or asteroid entering Earth’s atmosphere at over 45,000mph.
Aerodynamic heating produces a streak of light both from the glowing object and the trail of glowing particles that it leaves in its wake.
Meteors typically become visible when they are about 162 miles above sea level.
When a meteor hits the earth, it is then described as a meteorite.
A fireball is a particularly bright meteor.
