A resident sparked panic and called cops out to a cougar sighting but it turned out just to be a pet cat.
The homeowner spotted what they thought was a big cat on a fence on their Ring camera.
But when they arrived officers realised it wasn’t a cougar – also known as a mountain lion.
It was just a domestic puss.

“We’d like to remind our residents to avoid mountain lions, even at a distance a brief glimpse should be cause for alarm.
“If confronted with a mountain lion, make your presence known; make noise, try to make yourself appear bigger, and back away slowly.
“Do not leave your domestic pet’s food outside, pets can attract mountain lions into developed areas such as this backyard.
