An adorable dog, who spent over 700 days in a shelter, has finally found his forever home – with a pensioner who had recently lost her two pups.
Lovingly named ‘Velcro’ after becoming attached to his new owner, the 10-year-old pooch’s story has gone viral online.
Formerly called Beluga, the dog had been awaiting his new home for over two years, having come to Austin Pets Alive in Austin, Texas, US in 2022.

With arthritis, ‘trust issues’ and progressive neurological/musculoskeletal challenges, Velcro was in need of a slower-paced home – which he has finally found, with 75-year-old Jeanette.
His new companion had recently lost two pets of her own, and the loving duo instantly hit it off.
A video sharing their heartwarming adoption tale has garnered 6.5 million views and 700,000 likes on Instagram.
In the clip – which features on What’s The Jam – Jeanette and Velcro can be seen playing happily in the garden, both looking thrilled to be together.
Jeanette has shared her experience of adopting Velcro in a bid to encourage others to not overlook special needs or senior dogs.
