A resident sparked panic and called cops out to a cougar sighting but it turned out just to be a pet cat.
The homeowner spotted what they thought was a big cat on a fence on their Ring camera.
But when they arrived officers realised it wasn’t a cougar – also known as a mountain lion.
It was just a domestic puss.

The drama happened in San Francisco, California, US, as reported on What’s The Jam.
A South San Francisco Police Department spokesperson first said: “That’s a big cat.
“A resident reported seeing a mountain lion via Ring camera.”
“Officers conducted an area check, but were unable to locate this furry guy and there were no additional sightings.
“We’d like to remind our residents to avoid mountain lions, even at a distance a brief glimpse should be cause for alarm.
“If confronted with a mountain lion, make your presence known; make noise, try to make yourself appear bigger, and back away slowly.
“Do not leave your domestic pet’s food outside, pets can attract mountain lions into developed areas such as this backyard.
“Report any mountain lion encounter or incident to your local Police Department, local Ranger District, or Fish and Wildlife Office.”
But the spokesperson later added: “We were able to confirm the big cat was not a mountain lion.
One local, called James, said: “Geez Louise, you got to be kidding me.”
Christian chimed in: “I have seen plenty of mountain lions, but that is just a hefty house cat.”
Laura joked: “If that is what she considered a mountain lion, I hate to see what she would consider my house cats.”
Angel stated: “Looks like a regular cat.”
