An adorable chunky cat nicknamed ‘Thicken Nugget’ is taking swimming lessons to lose weight.
The 30-lbs feline is actually named Ty and is on a mission to drop half his body weight.
And it’s all in an aim to give him a new home, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Ty was sadly given to an animal shelter earlier this year but the team are now working hard to help him work out with swimming therapy twice a week.
The determined cat has already dropped three pounds as of this month.
“Remember Ty? He is well on his way to reaching his goal weight, thanks to everyone who donated towards his water therapy,” said the Vanderburgh Humane Society in a Facebook post.
The welfare organisation, located in Evansville, Indiana, US, added: “He is swimming twice a week, is much more mobile and down from 30 pounds to 26.8.
“He’s even swimming across the pool all by himself.”

The ideal weight for cats varies depending on the breed but most adult male house cats should weigh 11-15 pounds according to Purina.
Despite Ty hating his first time in the water like a typical feline, the Vanderburgh Humane Society is positive it will help keep him in good health.
In the images shared to Facebook, the chunky cat can be seen wearing a little black lifejacket while he swims around the pool with his human trainer.

Vonda commented: “It’s wonderful! Works on humans too!!!”

Ty is looking for his forever home but the organisation has said the new owners will have to adhere to his diet and exercise restrictions.
The aim is to get him down to 15 pounds before placing him up for adoption.
