But when they ventured out onto the patio, they were stunned to claim it was just a cardboard print.
The clip showed Pilar’s friend pointing to the patio, saying: “Have you seen the cathedral?”
Pilar was heard laughing in the background as she asked: “How much are you paying per night?”
Her pal replied: “€500 a night.
“And look at the view of the cathedral.”

Pilar, who comes from the Spanish capital Madrid, was staying at a rented accommodation in Barcelona.
The suspected printout featured the city’s Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, better known as Barcelona Cathedral.
The fashion model, who boasts 34,000 Instagram followers, claimed: “We’ve been ripped off by Airbnb.”

The clip promptly went viral on TikTok with 2.3m views and thousands of comments, as reported by What’s The Jam.
One local joked: “I’ll rent you my place in Getafe, it has views of the Eiffel Tower.”

Another added: “It’s easy to search the apartment’s location on Google Maps, if you don’t research before, don’t complain later.”
Eduardo remarked: “They never said it was going to be the real cathedral…”

After the video went viral, Pilar posted a follow-up to clarify that they were joking about the nightly fee of €500.
She included a screenshot of a follower’s comment that said: “€500 a night for an Airbnb? Isn’t it better to stay in a good hotel?”
Pilar said underneath: “Of course, we didn’t pay €500 a night.
“We were joking, we didn’t think the video would go viral.”
But they claimed the strategically-placed poster of the cathedral was a real feature of the rented accommodation.
Airbnb has been approached for comment.
