Hundreds of Brit holidaymakers stuck for two hours at an airport broke into a spontaneous singalong.

They started belting out Neil Diamond’s iconic Sweet Caroline.

The 1969 classic has been adopted by England football fans since the last Euros three years ago.

The fed-up holidaymakers had just landed at Faro airport in Portugal and were marooned in queues at passport control.

Not wanting the wait to ruin the start of their holidays, one of the passengers switched on their speaker.

Suddenly the entire group joined in.

John Lambson, 24, who was with his partner, captured the impromptu singsong.

The sales representative from London had booked his £78 flights with no anticipation of the huge delay at the start of his time away.

He told What’s The Jam: “I thought it was quite entertaining, Sweet Caroline has been adopted as an informal national anthem.

“Someone just got their speaker out and started playing the song and everyone joined in.

“We were at arrivals and were waiting to go through passport control for two hours.”

Brits who have experienced similar delays at Faro airport weighed in on the situation.

One stated: “Faro is the most chaotic airport I’ve ever been to.”

Another said: “Going in August, hope it ain’t like that.”

Pedro Filipino added: “I don’t understand why Brits always sing this song while on vacation but it is funny at this point.”

Amanda Clayton added: “Oh we do love a queue.”
