A doctor, who graduated from Harvard University, has gone viral after revealing that we’re all drinking coffee wrong.
Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist, shares his experience and knowledge with his 358,900 followers on TikTok (@doctorsethimd).
He previously explained how spicy food can cause heart attacks, citing the case of a young teenager who sadly died after eating a single tortilla chip, dusted in ultra-hot seasoning.

Now, in a recent clip, racking up 48,100 views and over a thousand likes, he’s revealed the three ways in which we’re drinking coffee entirely the wrong way, reports What’s The Jam.
“Coffee is absolutely wonderful for your brain, gut and liver,” Dr Sethi, 42, begins.
He further explains that the polyphenols in coffee increase the good bacteria and also improve focus and memory.
In turn, this helps delay any onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
But, apparently there are a few common mistakes people make.

He says: “Adding sugar to coffee – spiking blood sugar increases inflammation, which is not good.
“Consider monk fruit or stevia without erythritol additive.
“[The] second mistake is not using organic coffee.

“Now coffee is one of the most pesticided crops and you really don’t want to consume the pesticides.”
His third note is one he claims shocks most of his patients; if you suffer from acid reflux, don’t stop drinking coffee.
Dr Sethi, from California, US, adds those who suffer should consider swapping to a darker roast, as this has less caffeine and is therefore easier on the stomach.
But if you don’t have heartburn issues, opt for a light roast instead.
Users have flocked to the comments to share their own experiences – and thanks.
“Drank coffee for several years, feel like it dehydrated me,” one user commented, to which Dr Sethi advised: “For every cup of coffee, general guidance is to drink two cups of water.”
“Thanks doc,” someone else added.
Ammy said: “Moral of the story is stop drinking coffee.”
“Dr can I add oat milk or need to be black?” another person commented, which the doctor confirmed to be okay.
