In the clip, Lisa explains the recent incident.
“Am I wrong for making plans after I’d already agreed to babysit?” she said, reading out the original poster’s dilemma.
“My friend asked me weeks in advance if I could babysit her toddler so she could attend a party.
“I agreed, cancelled my own plans and rearranged my entire weekend to help her out.
“The night before, she messaged me saying the party might run late.

“I asked her to confirm things because I wanted to plan my day, but no response.
“Hours later, she messaged me to say she had left her child with her mum.
“At that point, I assumed I was no longer needed and made new plans.

“Later that evening, she messaged me, was angry and accused me of being unreliable.
“She said I should’ve stayed free so her mum could’ve dropped the child off with me so she could stay out later.
“I feel like expecting someone to wait on standby is unfair and disrespectful.”
Lisa landed on the babysitter’s side.
“If the mum had communicated better from the start, it would have avoided the issue,” Lisa told What’s The Jam.

“It must have been so frustrating for a woman to be ignored when trying to plan her day.
“I feel this is on the mum completely.
“She was the one who wanted the favour but didn’t plan efficiently enough and resulting in the OP [original poster] believing she was no longer required.”
Social media viewers also shared their thoughts.
One person commented: “Frankly, I would never watch a child for a parent that doesn’t remain reachable. What if there was an emergency and she was not responding?”

Najee said: “I would never babysit for someone who doesn’t take my calls.”
Jane added: “Who doesn’t have clear communication about childcare?? The mom sounds irresponsible.”
Patty said: “Good for you for not allowing your ‘friend’ to keep you on standby. Being available until late evening ‘just in case’ is insane.”
Dorian added: “When you asked to confirm and she didn’t, it’s on her. Then she tells you the mum has the kid you’re off the hook. Tell your friend you don’t babysit anymore because SHE’S irresponsible.
