A teacher has won a pumpkin weigh-off with a colossal 1,121kg squash.
Travis Gienger, a horticulture teacher, spent months growing the giant fruit before entering the prestigious competition.
The 44-year-old beat his closest competitor by 6lbs (2.7kg) to rein victorious at the 51st World Champion Pumpkin Weigh-Off in northern California, US, on Friday (11 October).

His win, which he has called Rudy, came in at 2,471lbs (1,121kg), as reported by What’s The Jam.
To win the competition, he claims he focused on healthy soil, well fed plants and warm surroundings.
The morning of the competition, he posted a picture of Rudy to Instagram.
The image has since gathered hundreds of likes and comments.
In the picture, Travis can be seen grinning next to the enormous pumpkin which has been loaded into the back of a trailer.

He captioned the post: “Thank you all, I can breathe a little sigh of relief now that we are loaded and saw the bottom.
“I hadn’t seen the blossom end in 100 days.
“Thanks for playing ‘guess the weight’ – we didn’t pre-weigh so Monday is the day we find out what Rudy weighs!

“Best of luck to everyone this weekend!”
