A Rolling Stones star’s guitar is set to sell for £300,000 as legendary band memorabilia goes under the hammer.

The late Brian Jones’ original electric guitar, which he played in the iconic rock band, will be heading to one lucky bidder.

The Harmony Stratotone guitar was first acquired by one of the founding members of the group in 1962.

Jones, who sadly drowned at the age of 27, played it during the Rolling Stones’ session for their first single, ‘Come On/I Want To Be Loved’.

The guitar was also used on stage by the musician from Cheltenham in 1962 and 1963, including a performance at the iconic Marquee Club, London.

Before heading to auction, the guitar had featured in multiple exhibitions, including ‘The Rolling Stones: 50 Years of Satisfaction’ at the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame.

The historic instrument is part of a collection which has been put together for over 40 years, as reported by Whats The Jam.

Collector Ali Zayeri has presented the guitar as the centrepiece of his multi-million dollar haul dedicated to the Rolling Stones.

From stage-worn costumes and used instruments to gig posters and signed contracts, the collection has everything.

The items date back to the formation of the band in the 1960s.

The sale titled Satisfaction: The Rolling Stones Treasures from the Ali Zayeri Collection is hosted by Heritage Auctions.

A poster from their 1963 British tour at The Ricky Tick club is set to fetch an eye-watering £30,000.

For the same price, bidders can get their hands on a designer silk jacket worn by the one and only Mick Jagger in 1967.

Bidding will open on 4 Dec.

Charles Epting, Director of Consignments at Heritage Auctions in Dallas, said: “Brian Jones’s humble Harmony Stratotone stands as one of the most important instruments in rock and roll history.

“It was the electric guitar he played on the band’s earliest demos and at their early club gigs, and the very one heard on their debut single, a cover of Chuck Berry’s Come On, which introduced the Stones to the world.

“Perhaps even more importantly, this was the guitar Jones used to teach a young Keith Richards, helping shape the partnership that would define the band’s sound for decades.”

Ali Zayeri said: “For much of my life, I have been on a mission to chronicle and collect the legacy of the greatest rock ’n’ roll band the world has ever known.

“Every ticket stub, every poster, every autograph tells a story.

“Partnering with Heritage Auctions is the perfect way to share that story, and to pass the spirit of the Stones on to a new generation of fans.
