A reality TV star who stands at 3ft 4in tall and wears a nappy says she’s often mistaken for a toddler.

Aboli Jarit suffers with renal rickets, also known as renal osteodystrophy, a bone deformity caused by complications of chronic kidney disease.

The condition stunted her growth as a child and today she is just 3ft 4in tall at 22 years of age.

As there isn’t a complete cure for renal rickets, everyday tasks, such as venturing outside her home, are extremely challenging for her.

“Not many people have this rare disease,” Aboli, from Nagpur in India, told What’s The Jam.

“The good thing is I’m still surviving and most people can’t survive with this.

Aboli said she is frequently mistaken for a toddler due to her diminutive height.

She also has to wear a nappy around her waist 24 hours a day because she doesn’t have a bladder.

Aboli said: “Even today when someone sees me for the first time, they think I am a little girl, I then have to explain everything to them.

“I wasn’t born with a urine bladder, and because of that, urine keeps flowing through my waist all the time.”

“Holes were made on both sides of my back after doing operations, that’s why I have to wear baby diapers there.”

Aboli said: “It hurts and I have to wear it daily, which is why I sometimes get a urine infection.”

She is helped by her father Vijay, 68, mother Vanita, 56, and her siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Aboli, who is unable to walk, said: “Now my health is weaker than before.

“Earlier, only one of my kidneys was damaged and that was small, but now both my kidneys are damaged and there is no treatment for them.

“I am weak, that’s why I cannot even undergo dialysis, but I remain happy because what it is what it is.”

She said she loved singing and dancing at a young age, and always had a burning desire to perform and adorn the front pages of magazines.

The singer, who calls herself Nagpur’s first wheelchair model, made her breakthrough on the talent TV show Indian Idol.

She said: “When I went to Indian Idol, it was a matter of great pleasure for me.

“I can’t tell you how much I loved it.

“I want to become a singer and an actor in Bollywood and Hollywood.”

She added: “I am my own inspiration because I have learned to live life from what has happened to me from childhood till today.”

Aboli has also scooped multiple awards and built up a large following on Instagram.

She said: “In 2023, I won India’s Divyang Glamour award and I also took part in a Ms India Medico Diva event.

“I am also the Happiest Health Champion and a Happiness Ambassador.

“Today I have 33,000 followers on Instagram, people love and support me a lot.”

Aboli has also appeared on the front cover of multiple publications in her home country and further afield.

She added: “I am now a national and international public figure, Nagpur’s first wheelchair mode, a singer, a motivational speaker, and an Influencer Book of World Records holder.

“I also want to act and appear on different TV shows.

“I hope to continue inspiring people like this.”
