Angry parents taking their kids to a play area were shocked to see a council sign saying “Don’t be a t*sser” just a few feet away.
It was put up to try to reduce littering in the area.
It also reads: “Why are you t*ssing litter around here?”

The sign is near the kids park and family picnic area.
The poster was spotted at Towneley Hall, in Burnley which attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Fuming dad Dylan John, 47, took his son Alfie, seven, to learn to ride his bike when he spotted the sign.
The dad-of-two fumed: “The council has totally lost the plot putting words like that on posters.
“What is it thinking?

“Who in their right mind puts that next to a play area?
“The council is so out of touch with families with young children.
“I understand litter is a problem but kids should not be exposed to such offensive language on a poster.”

“The message is as subtle as a sledgehammer,” Dylan also told What’s The Jam.

“My son asked me what a ‘t*sser’ was, He’s only seven.
“I had to say it is someone who throws something away.
“I dread to think what would happen if he called someone a t*sser at his school.
“He would be straight into the headteacher’s office and slapped with a detention.
Towneley Hall’s grounds are popular with young families, dog walkers, cyclists, horse riders and boasts an 18-hole golf course.

Dylan added: “Burnley have just been promoted back to the Premier League so we’re going to get thousands of people visiting the town.
“We should not be using language like this in public parks just five metres away from a children’s playground.”
T*ss is another word for throw but also a solo sex act.
Burnley Council has been approached for comment.
