A desperate search is under way for a missing shelter dog after he made a daring escape by unlocking two doors himself.
Staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly to locate Dawson, a smart and sweet mixed-breed, who broke free from the shelter after managing to open two secured doors.
“Though we had a couple of leads, there’s still no sign of Dawson,” a shelter representative told What’s The Jam.

The team is eager to get him safely back, stressing that Dawson needs to return in order to find a loving family to leave with next time.
“This boy is incredibly intelligent and affectionate,” the spokesperson added. “He deserves a good home.”
Members of the public are being urged to keep a sharp eye out and report any sightings to the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Control Shelter.
Staff there also took the opportunity to highlight the growing pressure facing animal welfare organisations during the global cost-of-living crisis.
“We really appreciate people sharing Dawson’s story and giving credit where it’s due,” another team member said.

“We recently held a huge adoption event where 184 animals were adopted in just one week. Even so, we’re still over capacity.”
The shelter in Huntington, West Virginia continues to encourage the public to help however they can whether by adopting, fostering, volunteering or donating.
As the search for Dawson continues, social media users were left seriously impressed by his daring escape.

“I think that’s the smartest freaking dog I’ve ever seen,” one said.
“Dawson stole a car after this. Last seen driving an F250 long bed, blasting Freebird,” another joked.
A third declared: “No one would believe this if it wasn’t on camera.”
And another reiterated Dawson’s need for a family: “Yes, he should definitely leave with a family! A family with a good tall fenced-in yard, apparently.”
Someone else added: “That’s a whole human cuz how he know how to unlock that door (sic)?”
