A mother and son received their university degrees on the same day.
Brandi Fields graduated alongside her son, Kyle Fields, giving them two reasons for cheer.
They both took to the stage to accept their master’s degrees from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, near Dallas, Texas, US, on Friday (9 May).

They then enjoyed Mother’s Day together yesterday (11 May).
The university’s first-ever graduate-only ceremony saw Brandi collect her Executive Master of Business Administration degree.
Her son accepted his Master of Liberal Arts degree during the same ceremony.
Brandi said, “Sharing this moment with my son is something I never imagined.
“We’ve supported each other through late nights and strict deadlines.

“To walk the stage together, especially on Mother’s Day weekend, is an incredible and meaningful moment for our family.
“He’s going to walk first, so I’ll get all my emotions out with him, and then I’ll be able to sit back and collect myself.”
Brandi explained that her journey to obtaining a graduate degree was a long, tough one, as reported by What’s The Jam.

“Returning to the classroom after so many years was a challenge,” she said.
“I like to learn, and I thought, at my age, can I do this? Can I go back to school?
“But learning alongside experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds made it incredibly rewarding.
“The insights I gained from both professors and peers were invaluable.
“Coming back to school taught me, yeah, there’s a lot that you don’t know, and you’re never too old to stop learning.”
Kyle, who worked as an equipment manager for TCU Athletics, said his mother’s commitment motivated him to study harder.
He said: “She’d be there working away, and the last thing I would want to do is homework.
“But seeing her being able to dedicate so much time after cooking dinner, going to work for a full day, it was really an inspiration for me.
“Looking back on this experience, I was so proud of her for going back to school, and it kind of gave me something to look forward to, look up to.”
Kyle added that he plans to continue working in the sports industry after graduating from TCU.
“Sports have always been a big part of my life,” he said.
“After graduation, I want to continue to work in the sports industry.
“The ultimate goal is to work for Nike.”
