A Harry Potter lookalike has been forced to change his stage name by Warner Bros.

Enzo built his artistic identity around his striking resemblance to Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who played Harry Potter in the successful film series.

The singer originally performed under the name Enzo da Pegada X, but changed it to Harry O Bruxo – which translates as Harry the Wizard – after several performances went viral online.

Fans kept pointing out his similarity to Harry Potter and the singer, who performs Arrocha, a romantic music genre from Bahia in Brazil, leaned into it.

He posted videos with digital filters, blue contact lenses and outfits that alluded to the world created by J. K. Rowling.

In several videos, he even appeared dressed as a wizard, complete with robe and wand, reinforcing the visual association with the popular character.

The strategy worked and his videos began to go viral on Instagram and YouTube, where he quickly racked 1m followers and 100,000 subscribers respectively, as reported by What’s The Jam.

On Spotify, the singer has over 495,000 monthly listeners, a significant number for a pop artist.

But the artist’s rise to fame did not go unnoticed by executives at Warner Bros.

The studio reportedly sent Enzo a formal notification informing him that the use of the name ‘Harry’ was not authorised.

They said his stage name could infringe the intellectual property rights of the film franchise.

The singer announced on social media that he has therefore decided to simply call himself Bruxo – aka Wizard.

He said: “From today on, our name will no longer be Harry O Bruxo, it will simply be Bruxo,” he said.

“Warner Bros, a renowned company that I greatly respect, contacted our trademark and patent advisors and explained that we could not continue using the name.”

Enzo clarified that he did not want to take on the film studio.

“Guys, I’m not Harry Potter, but out of respect for that wonderful brand and Harry’s entire amazing career, I’m removing the name ‘Harry’ from social media.

“I hope you understand.”

He added: “I’m still your wizard.”

Warner Bros has been approached for comment.
