A vicar’s dog has become an unlikely Christmas star after joining the church choir and belting out carols.
Cocker Spaniel Mickey lives at the vicarage with owner, Becky Lumley, 49, and has stunned worshippers by howling along to festive hymns during choir rehearsals.
“Mickey is drawn to the more traditional choir,” Becky said.

“It’s not a surprise because they’re really good.
“It was very good of them to let Mickey join in for rehearsals and carols because they are serious musicians.
“But first and foremost, they are members of our church who like to celebrate the joy of Christmas and share that joy with others.
“I was really impressed that they were able to keep singing without falling into fits of giggles,” Becky of St Mary’s Beverley Church, Hull, East Yorks, also told What’s the Jam.
Becky rescued Mickey from an abusive home six years ago.

She discovered his unusual talent three years ago when he unexpectedly began joining in with music at home.
Becky added: “Mickey is a lovely, warm and friendly dog.
“He has a great capacity to get into trouble, especially at Christmas, from drinking Bailey’s to polishing off all of the church mince pies.

“Mickey has made a few too many trips to the vets after indulging in something he shouldn’t have.
“When we first heard him sing, we were shocked, and then we saw how much he enjoyed it, and it has become a source of much amusement to our friends and family.
