Christmas might be the most wonderful time of the year – but it is also the most expensive.

And despite costing an astonishing £650, the UK’s “most expensive” Christmas dinner has already sold out.

The six-course meal, created by chef John Williams MBE, will be enjoyed at the famous Ritz hotel in London and is described as being both “traditional and delectable”.

But even with the huge price tag, it doesn’t include booze.

While specifics of the Michelin-starred mystery menu are not known, it almost certainly features classics like turkey and Christmas pudding.

You can call them to find out; but the menu from 2009 included luxuries like foie gras, venison and sorbet.

Children’s portions, which are available to those under 15, come in at a marginally cheaper £340.

The food served is said to be made of the finest British ingredients.

Advertised as being an experience in and of itself, the meal will be accompanied by music from a five-piece band.

Diners must make an effort with their appearance and the dress code advises gentlemen “to wear a jacket and tie”.

There will also be a caricaturist present, and children will be treated to gifts from Santa Claus himself, which will create “cherished memories that will last a lifetime”.

A previous diner praised the hotel for creating a spectacularly festive atmosphere for those dining on the big day itself.

Jenni Grasps wrote: “The atmosphere in the hotel and the dining room was very festive with everyone really enjoying themselves.

“We enjoyed a 6 course lunch!! The food was incredible.

“The whole experience was fantastic and we would love to do it again! Very highly recommended!”

The Ritz has been contacted for comment.
