Lidl is expanding a major trial across dozens of UK stores with a money-saving feature for shoppers.
The budget supermarket is rolling out its Lidl & Go self-scanning service to another 37 branches throughout July.
It means more customers will be able to keep track of exactly how much they are spending and saving in real-time as they walk around the aisles.

Lidl expands its Lidl & Go self-scanning service to 37 more UK stores, letting shoppers track spending and savings in real time using the Lidl Plus app.The feature is built into the Lidl Plus app and lets shoppers scan products using their own smartphone, as reported by What’s The Jam.
The expansion follows positive customer feedback from an initial seven-store pilot.
Shoppers across Scotland, the South East and the wider South of England will be among those getting access to the feature.
Lidl said the trial had proved particularly popular with customers shopping with children and those wanting more flexibility while in the store.
The self-scanning service was first announced in July last year as part of Lidl’s investment in technology and innovation.

Louise Weise, chief customer officer at Lidl GB, said: “The early response from the initial phase of Lidl & Go has been really encouraging.
“Customers are telling us they value the control and visibility it gives them over their spend, and the flexibility to shop at their own pace.
“This next wave of stores brings the feature to many more customers, and we’ll continue to take on board feedback to evolve the offering as we go.”
