Locals have been left in stitches after a hole in a wall at a NatWest cashpoint retained the top spot on their town’s TripAdvisor.

The iconic landmark is simply made up of a brick wall on the side of a branch.

There is a large hole in it adjacent to an ATM machine on the front of the bank.

It has been dubbed ‘The Natwest Hole.’

The top-rated attraction can be found in the town of Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

The bland beauty spot was first reviewed on TripAdviser as a joke.

But it has now raked in 143 reviews.

The majority – 135 – have given the hole a five star review.

It has been granted the number one spot in the ‘Ten best things to do in Ilkeston.’

The Natwest hole even beat the Erewash museum, the Ilkeston War Memorial and scenic parks.

On TripAdvisor, it is listed as ‘Points of interest and landmarks.’

In 2020, TripAdvisor temporarily suspended reviews – as they “do not describe a first-hand experience.”

However, this was soon lifted and reviews have continued to flood in.

One visitor, called Robert, even spent his New Year’s Day visiting the attraction.

He said: “We visited this iconic landmark in the early hours of New Years Day 2024.

”As always, it didn’t fail to impress.

”The neon lights and street lighting made haunting shadows on the road and the light rain only added to the ambience.

”It is a truly magical place and one can only stand in awe at the architectural genius.”

Another visitor, called Jonathon said: “An architectural masterpiece, the design and quality of finish is something to behold.

”We visited on a dull and dreary Saturday morning and managed to get some one-on-one time with the hole that had clearly been recently visited by royalty (superkings fag packet seemed to have been left mounted between the mortar in his honour)”

”Words really can’t describe the awe of this experience but TripAdvisor requires 100 characters,” said another visitor who left a five-star review.

Locals were left in stitches at the attraction keeping the top spot.

One person, called Adam Gardner said: “Thats my town and that hole was the best fun as a kid.”

Nigel Spencer said: “Natwest Hole.
