Christmas has come early at Harrods – at budget prices.

The luxury department store has started discounting its trees before the holiday season has even fully begun.

Out of the company’s 15 Balsam Hill trees, 12 are already on sale.

The selection includes a 9ft tall Norway spruce Christmas tree, which usually retails at an eye-watering £1,829.

Now Harrods is offering the realistic item – which comes equipped with clear LED lights – for just £1,099.

Another classic artificial green tree has been slapped with a £450 discount.

The 8ft tall Nordmann Fir Flip tree is now being sold for £1,049.

A smaller version – at 7.5ft, with snow-frosted branches – is available at £499, having been reduced by £350.

The Balsam Hill range focuses on artificial trees that resemble the real thing.

“Every great creation starts with a story. For Balsam Hill, the magic began after founder Mac Harman spoke to a family member who was allergic to live trees, but still wanted to create a festive atmosphere,” the collection description reads.

Unfortunately, it seems picky luxury shoppers aren’t too keen.

Despite the huge reductions in price, Harrods is still a much pricier option compared to the nation’s favourite supermarkets.

ASDA has started to offer its selection of trees for this year’s festive fun.

The chain’s highest-priced item is a 7ft tree at £265, which comes in a classic Calgary spruce look with pre-attached lights.

Tesco has also stocked its shelves with trees, such as a luxury faux Nordic Spruce hinged Christmas tree.
