A giant snowman made of wine bottles is dazzling punters at Britain’s most festive pub.

The Queen Victoria Inn has been covered in 55,000 Christmas lights.

But the main attraction has to be the 26ft snowman, which comprises of 2,500 plonk bottles.

The steel structure’s 8ft top hat even towers over the building itself.

Mark Walton, landlord of the boozer, in Priddy, near Wells, Somerset, said: “There’s a steel structure of a snowman which is 26ft tall.

“There are 2,500 bottles and there’s quite a few bulbs too.

“There’s not much of the building that hasn’t got a light on it.

“We spend a lot of time up a ladder in the days before the big switch on.

“I love Christmas.

“It’s such a special time of year.

“And although the exterior display is pretty expansive, we do decorate slightly more subtly inside.”

Thousands of lights will be switched on each day from 4pm to 9pm with the spectacle closing for the season on New Year’s Eve.

It is to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Mark and the team have raised more than £25,000 for the charity over the years.

Mark said: “When the lights are switched on at the Queen Vic, it’s the claxon that Christmas has begun in Priddy.

“Christmas is all about children and when you see what incredible work CHSW does with young people and their families, it spurs us all on to make the display bigger and better each year and raise as much money as possible.”

CHSW Area Fundraiser Kylie Gallagher said: “We are so grateful to have the continued support of this popular and well loved Christmas lights switch on.”
