Fizzy drink fans in England are already plotting trips north of the Border after Irn-Bru unveiled its latest new flavour.

The iconic Scottish brand is launching Irn-Bru Cherry – a twist on its classic recipe – as part of its growing Zero range.

But there’s a catch for eager shoppers.

The new drink will only be available in independent and symbol stores, meaning some fans may struggle to track it down in major supermarkets.

Irn-Bru Cherry is set to land in stores from May, available in 2L bottles priced at £1.79 and 500ml bottles at £1.29, reports Whats The Jam.

The launch marks the first time the brand has introduced a cherry flavour, tapping into a growing trend for fruity, low-calorie soft drinks.

Low-calorie fizzy drinks now make up more than half of the category’s sales, with cherry flavours in particular surging in popularity.

Kenny Nicholson, brand director at AG Barr, said the new addition builds on the success of previous limited-edition flavours.

He said: “Irn-Bru is known for its great-tasting limited edition flavours, but cherry is a brand new innovation for us.

“We’re further strengthening Irn-Bru Zero’s presence in the chiller, with another trending flavour innovation.

“Combined with the iconic taste of Irn-Bru, we’re confident the new range will deliver strong sales across the summer and beyond.”

The drink’s launch has already caused a stir online with Brits sharing plans to track down the new flavour – even if that means going north of the Border.
