A professional nit remover was forced to shave a client’s head after finding an infestation of ‘millions’ in the hair.

Rachel Maroun, who has over 4.2 million TikTok followers, works as a head lice technician and often hits the headlines after revealing the most severe cases she’s dealt with.

Previously, the 25-year-old spent over 17 hours removing nits from a client’s head.

But, in a recent case, she took on a woman with ‘millions’ of nits and eggs living in her hair – and was forced to admit defeat.

In the clip posted to TikTok, which has racked up 1.1 million views and over 100,000 likes, Rachel shows the infestation, where hundreds of lice babies were found hiding.

“Absolutely nothing could have prepared me for the client that walked in,” Rachel, from Sydney, Australia, told What’s The Jam.

“It was my first client of the day, and you could see that there were over a million eggs built up in her hair for god knows how long.

“Since it was a pretty severe infestation, the eggs have been laid on top of each other.

“Creating thick, heavy and super sticky sections of hair.

“I was super concerned about how I’d be able to treat it, but didn’t want to lose hope.

“I started with the heat machine, which kills everything.

“In a case like this, it is mainly good for killing the big ones.

“I thought it would be best to tackle one thing at a time and focus on getting the actual lice out of there.”

Hoping it wouldn’t be an impossible job, she started the comb through, but because the eggs were so built up, it made it very hard and sticky.

She said: “One section was taking more than an hour to clear, and it was incredibly painful for my client.

“Her scalp was incredibly wounded and had a lot of open sores.

“And when the eggs are built up like this, it is like brushing superglue out of hair.”

But struggling on, they tried for two more hours before realising they weren’t getting to where they needed to be.

She said: “My client realised this was going to be an incredibly painful and long-lasting job.

“And that’s not something she has time for when these lice are making her incredibly sick.

“This girl has had multiple iron transfusions to try and combat the impact the lice have had on her health.

“I wasn’t going to sit there and torture her more, so I cleaned up the clinic and suggested that we needed to shave it.

“Although that was hard news, she understood the importance of her health, and we got her lice-free.”

Rachel captioned the post: “Bare-handed tackling a lice infestation?!”

One user, Viky, commented: “Omg her neck and ears.”

Dale wrote: “Her poor scalp.”

Someone else added: “That poor baby, she much have been so itchy forever.”

Tyler commented: “Damn, that poor girl. I hope she begins healing quickly!”

Winter added: “How terribly sad! Thank you for helping these people with no judgement.”

Despite the itch-inducing nature of her job, Rachel is generally unfazed.

She said: “I‘ve really found my calling.

“I don’t expect many people to like my job.

“I’m very used to the ‘grossed out’ reaction I receive for doing what I do.

“At one point, I was the only technician in Australia since no one wanted to do treatments.

“But I couldn’t see myself in any other career, so maybe it was made for me.

“My job, although I never imagined myself doing it, has been the biggest blessing.”
