A self-proclaimed psychic medium has claimed she sees ghosts everywhere she goes – including sitting opposite her on trains, walking the streets and even joining her on the school run.

Chloe Smith says communicating with spirits has become such a normal part of her daily life that they now “blend in like normal people”.

The 29-year-old recently shared a video of what appears to be an empty Tube seat with the caption: “Watch a dead man sit opposite me.”

The clip, which garnered four million views, sparked debate online, with some viewers insisting they could sense or picture a figure, while others dismissed the claims entirely.

Chloe said leaving the house is often emotionally exhausting because of the number of spirits she encounters.

“I would travel to London weekly and I would take a train and then the Underground, where I’d be overwhelmed by spirits,” Chloe, from Uttoxeter, Staffs, told Whats The Jam.

“The emotions of the living and ghosts trying to interact – it would always be a journey in itself.

“It’s so draining but magical.

“The London Underground is full of history, but also the lingering presence of energy.

“When you are so used to doing the same journey every day for years and years, that energy can replay.

“Or if you are having a bad day, your loved ones in spirit can join you on that journey to give you comfort.

“There in front of me was a man in spirit [form] going about his day.

“I thought I would pick my camera up and record, being intrigued if anyone else could see, feel or sense him.

“There can be a split response, but [I ask], if you cannot physically see, then what do you feel, visualise or think of?

“As I say a man is there, what do you think he looks like?

“We all have this power within us, its just knowing to go with your gut feeling to start with.”

The mother-of-three claims spirits are never far away.

Chloe said: “Whether I’m shopping, walking the street or on school pickup, a spirit will get my attention.

“I’m so used to it now that they blend in like normal people.

“You can however get overpowering souls, who say ‘you will listen to me’, such as stubborn people on this earth [do].

“It’s my choice to listen and help, but even a day before readings, spirit will wait by my side ready to connect.

“They know I’m about to do a reading, I don’t know how, they just do.”

In the past, Chloe has used spirit boxes during investigations.

She says spirits have even entered her body.

The medium added: “I doesn’t hurt, but it’s how they show me they have a past, or anything they would like me to feel.

“I then can hear them, or get a memory or thought come directly to my mind.

“Scribbling also helps me to switch off my own feelings as Chloe and fully be a channel as ‘Chloe Mediumship’.”

While acknowledging that many people are dubious, Chloe argued there could be more to existence than life on Earth.

She added: “For sceptical people, think of this: we are all human, living on this earth.

“If you think when you die everything goes black and thats it, think [about how] that energy can’t be created or destroyed, only transformed.

“When a lightbulb breaks, the electricity doesn’t vanish from the universe, it just stop flowing through that certain lightbulb.

“So, even if you don’t believe in heaven, a religion or a bearded man in the sky, don’t sell existence short.

“If the blackness before birth turned into the light of life, then the blackness after death might just be the prelude to whatever comes next.

“After all, you’ve already beaten the odds once just by being here.

“A medium is just a channel between the living and the dead, being able to raise a vibration to connect.

“Spirits can’t come forward and just say ‘hi, how are you’ – they will show messages, symbols and signs to get a further message.

“I don’t know what they are doing up there, if there is a Starbucks or a cinema, but I do know life after death is real.

“I see my nan and grandad together again, [and] I never met my grandad on earth.

“It’s a reunion a place that’s forever, with no concept of time.

“We have time here, years and years, whereas when you reunite they will say ‘I only saw you yesterday’.”

The video taken on the train divided viewers, and racked up more than 16,000 likes.

One person joked: “I really hope my afterlife isn’t spent on the Northern line.”

Another commenter added: “Guys are we all on the same page that this is the biggest load of BS ever was, right? No such thing as spirits and she can’t see anything.”

But some viewers claimed they could visualise a figure.

One believer said: “Blue shirt, newspaper in hand. Late 70s.”

Another wrote: “I saw it straight away, how are people not seeing it? Like almost hanging bit disturbing.”

Someone else added: “A young guy, in his late thirties or early forties, auburn wavy or curly hair, bit of stubble, wearing dark blue jeans, a white T-shirt and brown suede jacket with Timberland-style boots.”

Others remained unconvinced.
