A ghost hunter couple who investigate paranormal places have bought Britain’s most haunted house and plan to live there.

Amy Waine and Jarrad Cutting are planning to renovate the notorious home on the site of a former medieval prison.

It is said to be haunted by the ghosts of women held there after being found guilty of witchcraft and later hanged.

A previous owner who lived there between 2004 and 2019 fled claiming she was attacked by spirits.

She said she’d seen ghostly figures and been pushed over while pregnant.

But that hasn’t deterred YouTubers Amy and Jarrad whose Amy’s Crypt channel has over 300,000 subscribers.

Amy, 35, said the two-bedroom house called the Cage, in St Osyth, Essex, was a real catch.

“I was attracted to The Cage initially due to its many paranormal reports but after visiting I fell in love with the building,” she told What’s The Jam.

“I’m a paranormal investigator and what started as a hobby has taken over my entire life.

“So to own an important piece of paranormal history and have the ability to use it as a home base for investigating and experimenting was really appealing.

“Our main focus is to restore and save the house for the future.

“It has unfortunately fallen into a bit of disrepair from sitting empty for so long.

“We do hope to make it into a comfortable place where we can stay and investigate ourselves.

“Further in the future we’d love to share the space with other investigators, but I feel the building needs a lot of work before that would be possible.

“I’ve definitely had some experiences within The Cage that I couldn’t explain.

“These have ranged from noises, smells and even an object moving on its own.

“It’s still early days for us and we’ve now hooked up cameras throughout the house so we have our fingers crossed we’re able to capture and experience more.

“In the past others have had trouble inhabiting or retaining ownership of The Cage.

“But for us we hope to hold onto the property long term.

“We adore the house and hope to show it the love and respect it needs.

“Hopefully the spirits will accept us and allow us to stick around.”

The Cage was used as a prison from the 16th Century until 1908 when it became a private residence.

It has three reception rooms, a kitchen, a ground floor cloakroom, plus two bedrooms and a bathroom on the split level first floor.

It featured in Channel 4 documentary True Horror ‘The Witches Prison’ broadcast on Halloween 2018.
