A football fan has revealed how he jetted off to Spain on a £30 flight, slept in the airport, watched a match and still spent less than most would on a weekend away.
Colin Duggan took on his own ‘extreme day trip’ to Seville after deciding to start ticking off football stadiums across Europe.
The retired fan has recently turned his attention to visiting famous grounds, based on cheap flights and match availability, making quick trips abroad his new hobby.

Over the past two months, the 60-year-old has travelled to Italy and Germany to watch matches at iconic stadiums – with Seville becoming his latest addition.
“I follow Everton home and away, but as we have not qualified for European competition for a while, I’ve decided to start visiting stadiums I haven’t been to based on match ticket availability, flight prices and timings,” the Liverpudlian told What’s The Jam.
During his short stay in the Spanish city, Colin found time to explore, taking a tour of the Seville Bull Ring before heading to La Cartuja Stadium to watch Spain draw 2-2 with Turkey.

Rather than splash out on a hotel, he stayed overnight inside Seville Airport ahead of his early morning flight home the next day.
He flew out from Manchester at 11:10 a.m. on November 18 and arrived in Seville at p.m. before returning to the UK the following morning via Barcelona and landing back in Manchester at 11:50 a. mm.

Colin said: “The atmosphere in the stadium was good and it was worth going as I ticked another box.”
After Everton failed to qualify for European competition in recent seasons, he has continued to search for new football experiences across the continent.

He has already visited Inter Milan at the San Siro, which is due to be demolished, and Borussia Mönchengladbach, and next month he is travelling to Germany once again to watch Borussia Dortmund in action.

The entire trip to Seville cost him around £166 all in, including a £30 Ryanair flight from Manchester to Seville, a £50 Vueling return via Barcelona, £40 for the match ticket, £10 for a National Express return from Liverpool to Manchester, £6 for the airport bus, £20 on food and drink and £10 for the bull ring tour – with accommodation costing nothing after he slept in the airport.
