The UK’s property market is now so out of control that an apartment has gone up for rent at £3,000 – but you don’t even get the full space to yourself.
The home in Devonshire Place, advertised on OpenRent, is described as a “shared” flat, but with just one bedroom, it’s not clear where the other resident is meant to sleep.
There is admittedly a large lounge space with two sofas, but no other mattress or sleeping arrangement is visible in the listing photos.
While it’s centrally located in Westminster, the property also needs a bit of a re-touch – featuring a dated kitchen and bathroom.

To put the price of the flat into context, a person on a £50,000 per annum salary is left with around 3,230 per month – meaning they’d have just a few hundred quid left over to live on for the month.
So even if you’re a relatively high earner, this property could be a no-go.
The listing also states that only one tenant is allowed in the bedroom – so couples may want to look elsewhere.
There is also no garden or parking, and you’re not allowed pets.

The room became available on 9 February but appears not to have been filled yet.
On the upside, it’s furnished, bills are included and the home is described as “student-friendly”.
But you’ll need to fork out just over £2,000 for the deposit and stay for a minimum of two months.
