An abandoned castle has been discovered, complete with a library full of century-old books.

Urban explorer Yannick tours the world looking for unique, forgotten properties and was amazed when he found this huge pile intact behind metal fences.

The 21-year-old shared a video of the mansion that went viral and his TikTok (@urbexguide ) post has over 10,600 views and 600 likes.

“It wasn’t a place I knew about beforehand, I stumbled upon it while researching abandoned locations,” Yannick told What’s The Jam.

It appears as if the owner of the castle, located in the Danish countryside, simply up and left one day, leaving many of their belongings, including the book collection behind.

Yannick, a business and economics student from Germany said: “Inside, the castle had an eerie, yet strangely peaceful atmosphere.

“The grand staircase greeted me as I entered, and even though it was dusty and worn, it still held an air of elegance.

“Exploring it felt like stepping into a forgotten era. I could almost imagine the grand events that once took place in these halls.”

But the most stunning part of the find for Yannick was the library.

He said: “It was full of large, leather-bound books, many of which looked like they hadn’t been touched in decades.

“Flipping through the pages felt like discovering hidden stories from the past.”

Yannick first visited in property in February. His video shows the imposing exterior surrounded by unkempt brambles and bushes, and the interior, in various states of decay, still boasts paintings and pictures, including stunning ceiling murals.

Entering the library, we can see stacks of forgotten books as Yannick highlights one huge tome with dogeared, dusty pages.

He said: “I would absolutely go back. Each room seems to hold a unique piece of history.

“As for why it was abandoned, the castle was left to decay because the cost of renovation was simply too high.

“It had been in the same family for generations, but the upkeep became unaffordable.

“The family eventually moved out, leaving many of their belongings, including the library, because they couldn’t find a buyer willing to invest in such an extensive restoration project.”

He added: “The large central tower gives a truly impressive silhouette against the landscape.

“It’s a shame that such a grand structure has been left to fall into disrepair, but it also adds to the sense of adventure and discovery when exploring it.

“Each room feels like it’s waiting for someone to bring it back to life, even if just for a moment.”
