As the UK basks in another wave of summer sunshine, the resident chimpanzees at Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire have been beating the heat in style-with specially-made ice lollies.
The five-member troop, usually content to lounge in the warm rays, sprang into action when zookeepers delivered a refreshing surprise: frozen treats made from sugar-free squash, water, and peas.
A cooling twist on their usual diet of root vegetables and leafy greens, the ice lollies were a clear hit.

Among the group, cheeky youngster Grant made headlines of his own, boldly snatching a lolly from the hands of his mother, Bonnie.
Phil took a more methodical approach, licking and slurping his way through every last drop of his icy delight.
Meanwhile, mischievous Elvis, the troop’s youngest, quietly stockpiled as many lollies as he could and made off with his stash to enjoy in solitude.
Beyond the chilled-out chimpanzees, visitors to the UK’s largest zoo can explore a towering new attraction: Trolls: A Field Study at Whipsnade Zoo.
The exhibit features 12 enormous trolls, crafted entirely from recycled materials by renowned Danish artist and environmental activist Thomas Dambo.
