Tourists were left gobsmacked after a crafty monkey was caught rummaging through a scooter seat in search of snacks.
The brazen macaque was filmed standing on top of the parked motorbike before forcing the seat open and knocking away a stick that had been wedged in as a makeshift lock.
Clearly no amateur, the clever critter then began rifling through the storage compartment.

Propping up the seat cover with one hand, the Formosan rock macaque pulled out a packet of wet wipes and even took a test bite.
But after realising the towelettes weren’t exactly a tasty treat, it tossed them aside and continued the hunt.
The monkey then dragged out documents and items of clothing – but appeared to come up empty-handed in its quest for something edible.
The bizarre encounter took place on Shoushan Mountain in southern Taiwan.
Footage of the furry thief has since gone viral on Threads, racking up 130,000 views and hundreds of comments, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The person who shared the clip joked: “Catching the perpetrator in the act!”
One local commented: “A monkey scratched my seat cover the last time I was there, looks like they’ve evolved again.”
Billy added: “Those sticks aren’t very useful!”

And Flora quipped: “Maybe they should put mouse traps on the seat?”
Motorbike owners in the area often wedge tree branches into their seats to stop macaques prising them open in search of food.
The sticks also prevent the seats from fully latching – helping air circulate underneath and keeping them cooler on hot days.
