A Brit who begged viewers to help pay for her house renovation reveals she’s made £3,000 from them in just 12 months.

Anya Roscoe secured the property with deposit of just £15,000.

The 22-year-old admits the two-bedroom house needed serious work including a full rewire, a new heating system, plastering and a brand new kitchen which would total around £30,000.

However Anya, who works as a social media manager, says that she is using funds from content creating on TikTok to pay for the work.

“Honestly, it was the biggest and cheapest on the market,” Anya, from Greater Manchester, told What’s The Jam.

“It needed a lot of work doing but I saw the potential, and it wasn’t too far from where I lived at the time, which was great.

“It was definitely a lot more challenging and stressful because even though my boyfriend was there to help, I’m responsible for organising everything, planning how rooms will look, paying for everything.

“It isn’t easy and I underestimated how much my life would change when buying this house.”

On her clip-posting hustle, she said: “I never thought going into it that TikTok would be able to make me enough money to pay for the renovation.

“But since day one of posting my journey, my account just went crazy.

“So many people have been supporting me.

“I never started documenting it to make money, it was just for the fun of it.

“But then I saw what one of my viral videos made and thought it would be stupid to not carry on.”

Before buying the property in February 2025, Anya had been living with her mum.

She moved into the home with her boyfriend and their two cats in October 2025.

Her original plan was to finish the renovation in six months – but a year later, she’s still going.

Anya, who has autism, is documenting the journey on TikTok @‌ThatGirlyUniverse.

Anya said: “I’m not balancing things very well, to be honest.

“When I wake up I’m thinking about what needs to be done on the house and when I go to sleep I’m thinking about it.

“Now we can actually see the rooms taking shape and turning an empty house into a home, it’s definitely more motivating.

“I love filming the journey because it’s helped me build my platform and open up so many opportunities – but it does add hours onto any task I’m doing.

“Our original time frame to complete the house was six months.

“We’re actually a full year in now and it’s still not finished.

“I’m trying to do things at a slower pace so I can still enjoy life, go on holidays and make plans with friends.

“My mum and dad have been round a few times to help strip wallpaper and paint.

“I don’t really like asking for help but at least I know it’s there if I ever needed it.”

Anya originally budgeted around £30,000 for the work – and says she’s managed to stay just under that figure, excluding furniture.

She said: “My original budget was around £30,000 and I would say without furniture yes, we’re still just under budget.

“I guess with furniture we can keep it and take it from house to house.

“But in terms of getting a full re-wire, new heating system, plastering, utility extension, kitchen – the things that will eventually add value to the house – yes we’re on budget.

“So without furniture around £30,000 and with furniture probably sitting at around £40,000.”

Anya is proud to have turned her life around after a dark period.

She added: “Everyone probably thought it was a crazy idea for me to buy a house this young and alone.

“I was on benefits and couldn’t work due to my disability and bad mental health.

“But now I’m doing something I love and building my dream home and life.

“I’m proof that things always do get better.”
