A woman has revealed how she spends a ‘fortune’ on a certain condiment to slather on her hair only – it stinks but makes her locks look like Rapunzel’s.
When Vicky DeRosa pops a high-end jar of mayonnaise into her shopping basket, she thinks eagerly about her plans to use it.
But it won’t be in her next sandwich – or in the kitchen at all.

In fact, the 61-year-old plans on scooping up the white condiment with her hands and slathering it all over her blonde locks.
It might sound bizarre – and rather smelly – but the egg-based sauce works ‘wonders’ for the content creator’s hair.
Albeit, her bedroom stinks in the morning.
“I walk around smelling like salad dressing,” the founder of VWell Health told What’s The Jam.

“But then again, everyone loves salad dressing.

“It does really smell; but it’s totally worth it.
“My hair looks healthier and shinier.
“It’s the best results I’ve ever seen – more than coconut oil masks.”

Vicky, who splits her time between Athens, Greece and Los Angeles, US, loves to ‘experiment’ on herself with natural products.
And it’s all in the name of looking younger, for longer.
She said: “I use myself as a guinea pig to see how things work.
“I had tried eggs before, but they get too stiff.
“But mayonnaise is so much easier to apply.

“Given it contains eggs, it’s protein-rich, which the hair needs.
“But only natural sources.
“The thing with protein, which a lot of people don’t realise, is that women with blonde hair shouldn’t use a lot of products with this in.
“Though this only applies to over-the-counter items.
“It’s really bad and can break the hair.
“But natural products, like mayonnaise, give it the nutrition it needs.”
Vicky, who still has a full head of strong tresses, advises those looking to use the condiment to opt for high-end brands instead of cheaper ones.
Simply, the fewer ingredients, the better.
She puts it on just before she goes to bed and leaves it to marinate overnight.
While her pillowcases often stink of eggs in the morning, Vicky doesn’t care – and has a whole stock in rotation.
She’ll then thoroughly rinse her locks with warm water, rubbing in the mayo, before shampooing twice with a natural brand.
Vicky said: “You’ve got to be gentle, though.
“It’s not easy to get out and it does dry quite a bit.
“But doing this when your hair is in need of some TLC, such as during summer or after swimming, is a must.”
Another piece of advice she urges users to be aware of is not to brush the hair while the mayonnaise is doing its thing.
And ensure to use a very good conditioner.
Once all is done, her hair doesn’t smell at all – but looks akin to that of Rapunzel’s.
In a clip, which has racked up over 335,000 views and over 4,000 likes, Vicky is shown dolloping the white sauce on top of her scalp.
She said: “I don’t eat mayonnaise, but I do use it as a hair mask.
“It is actually one of the best hair masks that you can use.”
She explains that while she doesn’t let her hairdresser apply colour to her locks, she does often get highlights twice a year.

In preparation for the appointment, it’s mayonnaise time.
Vicky said: “I’m going to do a mayonnaise mask twice before I go in.
“You want to start at the top and get it all over your hair.
“I’m going to let this sit for 30 minutes, wash it, but then next Sunday, I will let it sit overnight and then wash it.”
Users have flocked to the comments to share their reactions.
“You said mayonnaise? The thing you eat?” One person commented.
Another user added: “I prefer ketchup tho.”
“Yes! My nana told me years ago,” said Alana.

Someone else commented: “I feel like you’d have to wash your hair about five times to get it out.”
“Mix egg yolk in with it…get it slightly warm before you apply. It’s great,” added Kim.
It’s not the first anti-ageing trick Vicky has shared.
She recently revealed her morning ritual, which takes just five minutes and is completely free.
It involves using a plain white towel and soaking it in hot water to give an at-home facial.
She claims the results have made people think she’s 20 years younger.
