Wetherspoons fans are rushing to try a clever “secret menu” dessert hack after one customer revealed how to create an indulgent coffee-based pudding for less than £4.
The trick involves turning one of the pub chain’s standard desserts into something like an affogato – the classic Italian dessert made by pouring espresso over ice cream.
The customer opted for the Cookie Crunch Mini Dessert, priced at around £2.12, which comes with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, crushed chocolate cookie pieces and Belgian chocolate sauce, as reported by Whats The Jam.

They then added an espresso costing £1.85 and poured it over the dessert to create the coffee-and-ice-cream combination.
An affogato is traditionally made using gelato and espresso, although viewers noted the Wetherspoons version gives the dessert a more indulgent twist thanks to the chocolate cookie topping.
Those wanting a more traditional version could instead order the pub chain’s vanilla ice cream and sauce dessert option alongside the espresso.

The hack means customers can recreate the café-style dessert for under £4 in most Wetherspoons pubs.
Viewers were also quick to point out that the espresso comes with unlimited refills, meaning diners could add extra coffee shots without paying more.

The hack has also been widely shared online after fans praised it as a cheaper way to recreate a dessert usually found in cafés and restaurants.
The Wetherspoons workaround comes as “secret menu” food hacks continue to trend online, with diners regularly sharing ways to customise meals and drinks at major chains for less money.
