A Spanish woman, who lives in the UK, combined her hot and cold taps with a clever plastic bottle DIY hack.
Carmen Agraz says she was confused when she discovered that basins in Britain often have two.
The 34-year-old made holes in a bottle using a corkscrew and attached it to the faucets, so she could use lukewarm water to wash her dishes.

“I did it out of frustration,” Carmen told What’s The Jam.
“I was standing there with one freezing tap and one boiling tap, thinking there had to be a way to mix them.
“I looked around, saw a bottle, and thought, ‘Well, let’s see what happens’.
“It was super easy.
“I just grabbed a corkscrew, put a few holes in it, and it was done.

“It took me two seconds and didn’t cost me any money.
“It’s recycling at its finest.
“Since we’re renting and it’s an old house, it doesn’t make sense to install a proper mixer tap.

“Hopefully, in the next place, we’ll have one that actually mixes water!
“My first thought was, ‘What is my British partner going to say when he sees this?’”.
Carmen moved to Maidstone, Kent, from Córdoba, Spain, 13 years ago.
She added: “At the beginning, I thought two taps were super weird.
“But after nearly 13 years here, it feels normal now.
“I’ve really adapted to life in the UK and I actually love so many of the traditions here.
“Still, sometimes, I do miss having one single tap with lukewarm water.
“So, this was my little experiment to bring that feeling back.
“Moving to another country means adapting in so many little ways, and even though sometimes it’s a bit of a challenge, it’s also super enriching.
“I feel really lucky to live this experience, and to share my life with someone from a different culture.
“And honestly, when my partner saw what I had done, he just laughed, and then he took it off.”
