An influencer has shocked social media users after claiming to use her own faeces as a face mask – with two doctors issuing a stark warning against the extreme skincare method.

Débora Peixoto took to Instagram to share her bizarre routine with her 657,000 followers.

The 31-year-old has previously gone viral for smothering period blood across her cheeks to give herself “glowing skin.”

Now she has revealed her latest skincare ‘hack’ in a video that has over 217,000 views.

“I saw research about it and decided to try it,” claims the content creator, speaking to What’s The Jam.

“It can prevent ageing.

“It’s the craziest thing I’ve done in my life.

“But it’s worked for me and my skin has stopped flaking!”

In the video, the influencer can be seen going to her fridge and picking out a small sample container of what appears to be her own poo.

She then puts her hair back with a pink hairband, before using a small spatula to wipe the faeces across her cheeks, forehead, chin and nose.

Débora then rubs the poo into her skin with her fingers to create a face mask.

The Brazilian native uses a clothes peg to close her nose, which she says “helps with the smell” and leaves the substance on for 10 minutes before washing it off.

At the end of the video, Débora looks at the camera to show off her “glowing” skin.

The post has gained over 1,900 likes, as well as hundreds of comments so far.

Edilane said: “There are things that even when I see I don’t believe.”

Milena wrote: “Disgusting AF. I wouldn’t even do that.”

Someone else said: “This is diabolical… taking it too far.”

WHAT THE DOCTOR SAYS:

Dr Sophie Momen, a consultant dermatologist at the Cadogan Clinic in London, has warned against the hack.

She said: “Of all the skincare ‘trends’, this is one of the strangest I have ever come across.

“There is absolutely no scientific benefit to your skin in using faeces as a face mask.

“In reality, this could pose more problems than benefits.

“Faeces is full of bacteria and viruses, putting yourself and others at risk of illness, food poisoning and infections.

“In addition, when faeces come into contact with the skin, it can irritate the skin causing redness and discomfort.”

Her colleague, Mr Tunc Tiryaki, a consultant plastic surgeon and the Chair of the Humanitarian Programs of ISAPS, has also shared his thoughts.

He said: “Using your own faeces as a facial cleanser or face mask is highly inadvisable due to several health and hygiene concerns.

“Faeces contain a plethora of bacteria, viruses, and parasites, including E. coli, Salmonella and helminths, which can cause serious infections and diseases.

“Applying faeces to your face can introduce these pathogens into your body through small cuts, abrasions or mucous membranes, leading to severe skin infections or systemic illnesses.

”Faeces also contains waste products and toxins that the body has expelled.

“These substances are harmful and can cause inflammation, irritation and allergic reactions on the skin.”

Instead, the surgeon advises to use modern facial masks.

He added: “These are specifically formulated to cleanse, moisturise and protect the skin while maintaining its natural balance.

“Utilising these scientifically developed products is a far safer and more effective method for maintaining skin health and hygiene.”
