A Brit was slapped with a £45 luggage fine after an airline pulled out a ‘Happy Meal’ sized bag tester.

Jazveena Sahota could not believe her eyes when she spotted the ‘different’ style cabin case tester.

The social media consultant knew her luggage would not fit as soon as she joined the queue at the terminal.

Despite it being her go to cabin suitcase the holidaymaker was forced to cough up the £45 fine.

“I was shocked at the type of bag tester and how slim it was,” Jazveena, from Birmingham, told Whats The Jam.

“It was very different from the traditional ones and a lot of the other passengers were confused by it.

“They were also using it over prams.

“I recently went on holiday to Marbella and had no problems with my case; hence why I took it as a cabin bag.”

Jazveena had booked a trip with Tui from Birmingham Airport to Ayia Napa, Cyprus.

She arrived at the airport on 8 Jul with her cabin bag when she spotted what the staff were using to measure the size of luggage.

The slim blue handheld box is supposed to slot over the top of the case.

After posting the footage of her being fined online, the video quickly went viral – racking up 1.3m views.

Holidaymakers flooded the comments claiming that the bag tester was the size of a ‘Happy Meal’.

One viewer said: “For god sake, now your cabin bag needs to fit inside a Happy Meal.”

Another person commented: “They want to make it a Happy Meal.”

One other person said: “What in the Happy Meal box is that.”

One viewer wrote: “Tui whacking out a Happy Meal now?”

Another person added: “It’s not even the shape of any suitcase I’ve ever seen.”

The reaction to her video had Jazveena in stitches.

She said: “The happy meal comments are hilarious and it’s crazy how many people also thought the same.

“It’s a very relatable video, especially in the height of summer, however I didn’t expect it to generate as many opinions as it has.”

Despite facing the charge on the flight out, on her return the passenger managed to avoid the hassle all together.

Jazveena said: “I told the staff at check-in about the situation I experienced on my outbound flight, and as a gesture of goodwill, they agreed to check it in for me free of charge.

“When we got to the boarding gate they were not measuring people’s suitcases, so the experience passengers are getting is inconsistent.

“I’d used this on flights previously, I assumed it would be fine.

“It is also a case that fits in the overhead compartment of a plane.

“Again I was a very jolly passenger, if i’m someone who would complain about a £45 charge on holiday then I shouldn’t really be going on holiday.”

Jam Press has approached Tui for a comment.
