A doctor who graduated from Harvard University has revealed the three most toxic items almost everyone has in their bedrooms which should be thrown away immediately.
Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist, shares his experience and knowledge with his 1.2m followers on Instagram (@doctor.sethi).
He previously revealed the common type of carb which could be “wrecking” the gut.

Now, he’s shared three of the most toxic items which are most likely in your bedroom right now.
And the worst is where our heads rest at night, reports What’s The Jam.
In a clip, which has racked up 2.1m views and over 23,000 likes, he lists them in order.

“Old pillows,” the 42-year-old, from California, US, begins.
“Pillows accumulate dust mites, sweat and allergens over time.

“If yours is over one to two years old, it is probably time to replace it.”
The second is synthetic air fresheners.
He explained: “Many of these release phthalates and VOCs linked to respiratory issues and hormonal disruption.”

Dr Sethi references a study, where 86% of air fresheners tested contained phthalates, which are chemicals associated with reproductive harm and asthma.
He urges people to try essential oils instead.
“And last – worn out mattresses,” he continued
“A mattress that is more than seven to 10 years old can lower sleep quality and cause chronic back pain.
“You should throw these items out as soon as possible.”
