A groom-to-be was stitched up in a hilarious prank when he was forced to join in with the flight attendants en route to his stag do.

Best man Richard Purseglove made his pal Jay dress up as a member of the cabin crew before they jetted off for a weekend away.

The 41-year-old even contacted the stag’s wife-to-be to find out his clothes and shoe size.

Richard already had contacts in the aviation industry as he works as a part time flying instructor – so grabbing a cabin crew outfit proved to be a simple task.

In the departure lounge bar, he revealed the get-up to Jay, 47, and the rest of the 14-strong group.

And in a video, which has attracted 2.5m views online, Jay could be seen on board the flight, checking people’s seatbelts and chatting with other crew members.

He even took part in the safety demonstration.

The group was travelling from East Midlands Airport to Dublin, Ireland, with Ryanair.

“I planned to speak to the Ryanair staff at the gate to let them know, but it was all a bit rushed and we were in different positions in the queue,” Richard, from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, told What’s The Jam.

“I made sure that I got to the aircraft before him and explained to the cabin crew that they had an extra team member today.

“I reassured them that he’s not drunk and would be well behaved, but encouraged them to utilise him as much as possible.

“I knew that once we were in Dublin, if I made him dress up, then we likely wouldn’t be allowed to go in any bars, so I knew it had to be on the way there.”

Richard, who also runs a property investment company, was impressed with how the crew handled the extra staff member.

And Jay, a fireman from Mansfield, fully immersed himself in the new gig.

Passengers on board appeared to have a good laugh at his expense.

Richard added: “The crew were brilliant.

“I actually think it was probably the most attention passengers have paid to a safety brief in a while.

“He wandered up and down the aircraft to speak to the other guys after takeoff, and passengers were joking with him, asking for drinks and duty-free.

“As we started the descent to Dublin, the cabin crew came to get him to help them with the rubbish collection.

“They were all fantastic.

“It was harmless fun.”

Viewers loved the prank, and a Ryanair crew member even commented on the video, thanking the group for making it a “fun flight”.

One viewer said, “I love how the staff allow him to get involved.”

A second person said: “See this is how stag do’s should act. Having a good bit of fun. Not getting drunk and getting all lairy.”

“I was part of the crew that day. Thanks to this amazing ‘colleague’ for making everyone laugh. It was such a fun flight thanks to you,” added a third viewer.

Another person said, “Needs to put in his timesheet.”
