A famous property dubbed the ‘wedding cake’ house thanks to its elaborate gothic style trim is now on the market for £2 million ($2.65 million).
Located in Kennebunk, Maine, it is one of the state’s most famous homes.
The home has gone up for sale after the owners were rejected permission for it to become a wedding venue.
The two-story home is painted completely yellow, frosted with a gothic-style white trim, and has tall tower-like peaks.

Built in 1825 by George Bourne, a fourth-generation shipbuilder, the home is also now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The current owners, Hunt, and Katie Edwards, have lived in the house seasonally since 2014 but found it had structural deficiencies in its foundation, walls, and chimney.
To bring in money for the needed renovations, last year the couple applied for the home to host weddings and events, and potentially turn it into an inn too.
However, the proposal was declined earlier this year by the town’s board, with members sharing that the locals were worried about excessive noise.

Now, it is for sale to a lucky buyer, as reported on What’s The Jam.
Sitting on a 2.23-acre lot with over 300 feet of access to the Kennebunk River, the house is over 6,000 square feet and has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms.
Inside features beautiful paintings, oak wood, a spiral staircase, and light and bright white walls.

Down the hallway is where you will find the incredible kitchen, with vintage wood cupboards, a copper kettle, and aga.
There is an old-fashioned sitting room, with burgundy sofas, big blue armchairs, and hundreds of books lining the walls.
Another sitting room has peach-painted walls, a cream sofa, and orange armchairs, the perfect spot to relax and look out the windows at the beautiful views.
The blue dining room comes with a table and eight chairs, as well as a glass cabinet, more paintings, and a stunning hanging chandelier.
Upstairs is where you will find the bedrooms, three of which are en-suite.
The first has a double bed, two small square windows, and white walls, while the second double has a tartan bed, desk space, and an open fireplace.
There is also a twin room with two dark oak beds and another double with a dark blue and gold bed.
Outside there is the large back deck with a fire pit and furniture that overlooks the land and serene river.
The property also comes with a private two-bedroom apartment on one floor that could be used as a short-term rental property.
As well as a barn and carriage house which can be transformed into whatever the new owners wish.
The home is currently on the market with Pack Maynard and Associates.
